Description
Storing water in copper utensils overnight helps in killing all the bacteria present in the water. When water is stored in copperware, small traces of copper slowly leeches into the water. This process is known as Oligodynamic effect. Copper, when dissolved in water, increases the pH level of the water slightly and makes it difficult for germs like e-coli bacteria to survive in this environment.
How to use your copper water bottle:
- Fill up with water and leave over night or for 8hrs before drinking
- Best to drink first thing in the morning then fill up again and drink again at night
Caring for your copper:
Every water bottle is unique and has slight imperfections. This is just the nature of pure copper and you will notice after using it a few times the copper will naturally get some marks so cleaning weekly is a good idea to keep the shine. The best thing about copper is that you don’t need any harsh chemicals to clean these products. I have found the best method is cleaning with lemon and salt.
- lemon and salt solution method: Cut a lemon in half, dip in salt and rub all over the outside of the bottle. It will act just like a scrubber. Rinse with water. To clean the inside, simple squeeze half the lemon into the bottle with 1 tbsp salt and 1/2 cup water and put the lid of and shake for up for about a minute, Pour out and rinse with fresh water.
